Our Story

Wanda and Jim started their dancing instructor and DJ career in January 1996 as a fund raising project for their church in New Jersey. After dancing less than a year, they planned to share their dancing experience with others.

Wanting to maximize the funds raised, they hired their dance instructors to teach at the dance event but decided to teach dance lessons themselves for four weeks prior to the dance.

The dance was a huge success and using a number of “greatest hits” CDs, a home stereo and a borrowed mixer,
Jim DJ’d the event himself.

After weeks of people asking for more, they decided to teach lessons for four more weeks and hold another dance. At the dance, people said “we will be back next week.” Wanda and Jim explained that they had taught them every dance they knew and the dancers said “learn something new to teach us, we’ll see you next week.” And that’s how this grand journey began.

After 16 years of “Dancing In Dunellen,” Wanda and Jim moved to the Carolinas. You will now find them every Wednesday afternoon at the Silver Coast Winery’s Barrel Room, teaching and playing music to the cheers of a new group of dancers.

Dancing has taken them literally around the world, dancing in England and Venezuela, and teaching in Switzerland, Canada and all over the U.S.A. “When we started this journey, we never imagined we would still be doing this 28 years later and having so much fun with such great people.”

Wanda and Jim’s accomplishments include winning an international choreography award for their dance “Late Night Swing” and attending the Linedancer Crystal Boot awards presentations in Blackpool, England, where their dance “Whoops, I Fell In Love,” was nominated for “Beginner Dance Of The Year” by LINEDANCER MAGAZINE.
